The MACSL Technique

MACSL' stands for Mizokami Advanced-Circulatory Sports Lymphatic. The MACSL Technique combines aspects of various methodologies of massage, including Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, and more with the focus of improving the function of the Lymphatic System.

MACSL aids the lymphatic system by breaking up calcification caused by stagnation of lymph fluid, thereby increasing lymph fluid flow. This helps the lymphatic system work more efficiently and perform its essential function of maintaining the balance of fluids in the body. Increasing lymph flow improves blood circulation and, as a result, inflammation is often ‘brought up’ through the body. The MACSL Technique helps the lymph system flush out excess fluids and toxins, reducing and preventing further inflammation.

An Explanation of the Lymphatic System

From the book “Physiology, Lymphatic System” by Lauren Ozdowski and Vikas Gupta:

“The lymphatic system is an important and often underappreciated component of the circulatory, immune, and metabolic systems. It is composed of lymphatic fluid, lymphatic vessels, and lymphatic cells […] There are three primary functions of the lymphatic system: first is the maintenance of fluid balance, second is the facilitation of the absorption of dietary fats from the gastrointestinal tract to the bloodstream for metabolism or storage, and third is the enhancement and facilitation of the immune system.”

Sylvia’s Perspective

Sylvia also believes that the importance of the lymphatic system is often underappreciated. Through her many years of work, she has seen how patients with auto-immune diseases and patients that are prone to injury or illness often have poor functioning lymph systems. She sees the lymphatic system as a major determining factor of a person’s health. And she believes that improving lymph function is a key to unlocking positive health changes. This is why she created and developed the MACSL Technique as a tool for harnessing the power of the lymphatic system.
